Babe & Me by Dan Gutman

A boy named Joe Stashack can travel back in time by touching an old baseball card. He time-travels with his dad to see Babe Ruth’s “called-shot” at Wrigley Field. He and his dad are able to see Babe’s real feeling and even discover that Babe had kids. THis is a lifetime adventure for Joe and his dad.

Rating: 5 stars

Why? It shows the real Babe Ruth. It shows all the mixed of emotions. It shows his true personality.

Don’t Care High by Gordan Korman

Paul entered a new school where no one cared. He and a boy named Sheldon made everyone start care when they nominated a strange bot named Mike Otis for president. By the end of the school, Mike had changed the school and everyone cared.

Rating: 4 stars

Why? The book was good although the ending left a few parts out.

Playaways @ Library North

Library North is pleased to announce the addition of Playaways to the teen collection. Playaways are “pre-loaded and portable” audio books. They are similar to MP3 players. The playaways come with a battery that will last throughout the playing of the book. Patrons must provide their own headphones or ear buds. If you don’t have ear buds, you can purchase a set at Library North for $1.50.

Best Books for Young Adults 2010

On November 9th, ALA announced the nominations for the Best Books for Young Adults 2010. You can view the entire list here. As of November 16th, the library has 39 of the fiction  titles on the list. This list shows the books JMCL has and where to find them (i.e., Main or North). Enjoy!

Crochet Club @ Library North

Library North’s Crochet Club will be meeting Friday, November 20th, 3:30-4:00 p.m. The club is open to all ages and levels of experience.

As this will be our last meeting before Christmas, we’ll be making tree ornaments. Patterns will be available for

                       Stockings
                       Wreaths
                       Bells
                       Gingerbread houses

Please bring a size H hook (or larger) and some holiday colored yarn.
